Hydrosol, what is it? How is it used?
Meaning and definition of hydrolat
Hydrolats are a by-product of the steam distillation process of essential oils. They are, in effect, scented waters enriched with the active ingredients of the plant and, unlike essential oils, can be safely used in direct contact with the skin: this makes them an ideal product for body care, especially during the summer season. "If essential oils are the fire of the plant, aromatic water is the gentler and more balanced part."
How is hydrolat made?
The hydrolat is obtained through steam distillation. The vapor infused with the plant condenses into water. After resting, the water separates from the essential oil, giving rise to the hydrolat. Aromatic water is a lesser-known product compared to essential oil, but, as often happens, the more discreet part provides the greatest benefit.
Lavender Hydrolat
This hydrolat has a deeply soothing and calming action on the skin. Its purifying properties help rebalance sebum production. A cellular regenerator, Lavender is also very suitable for early childhood: if there is skin redness or slight irritation, it is recommended to spray it on the affected area several times a day. Furthermore, if stored in the fridge, Lavender hydrolat proves to be a truly refreshing after-sun product, as it provides relief after sun exposure.

Bay Leaf Hydrolat
For the Ancients, Bay Leaf was the tree consecrated to the Sun-Apollo; its leaves crowned the heads of heroes, geniuses, and sages. The Greeks, in fact, believed that its leaves had the power to bestow the gift of divination, to ward off bad luck and contagious diseases. In Rome, it was also considered a sign of triumph, so much so that victorious generals wore a crown made of its branches when they were celebrated on the Capitol. How you can use it: Bay Leaf hydrolat acts on feelings of intolerance, loneliness, inability to listen, and repressed aggression. It stimulates the immune system, the lymphatic and circulatory systems. Effective for gum and oral cavity disorders (stomatitis) and for joint and rheumatic problems.
