Essential oils distilled from Seeds and Pods
Sort by:
The energy contained in seeds and pods
Essential oils distilled from seeds and pods contain the energy that plants concentrate in their most precious fruits. Cardamom, Fennel, and gourmet raw materials such as Vanilla and Tonka Bean: these are essential oils and absolutes with a warm, sweet, and spicy character, capable of enveloping you with their intensity. Seeds and pods are treasure chests of active ingredients, and their essential oils tell the story of all their richness.
Olfattiva essential oils are pure, whole, and 100% natural. They are born from a careful and rigorous selection, matured over twenty years of experience, and tell the story of the plant's origin, the producer's work, the extraction method, and the seasonality of the harvest.
How they are born: distillation and extraction
Many seeds are processed by steam distillation: Cardamom and Fennel, for example, yield their warm and spicy aromatic molecules to steam, which separate from the water in the Florentine vase. It is the most traditional technique, suitable for many aromatic plants.
Some pods, however, require a different method. Vanilla, like Cocoa and Tonka Bean, is obtained by extraction: a maceration in vegetable alcohol, during which the plant slowly releases its aromatic part, which is then separated from the residue. It is a process that requires time and patience, perfectly consistent with Olfattiva's way of working.
The essential oil is the soul of the plant
Every time you use a spice, the scent you perceive is that of the essential oil contained in the plant. The essential oil is a complex mixture of odorous molecules, and from a subtle point of view, it is the soul of the plant: sun, water, air, earth, and subtle energies concentrate in the seed and, through the essential oil, interact with humans.
In seeds and pods, this soul concentrates with great intensity because it is here that the plant preserves its ability to generate new life. It is a richness that cannot be synthetically recreated: an artificial reproduction would never have the properties or energetic information of the plant.
How we select them
The selection of Olfattiva essential oils is an accurate, rigorous, and never automatic process. For each essential oil, we verify the full botanical name, chemotype, part of the plant used, extraction method, origin, and quality of distillation, always accompanied by olfactory and aromatherapy evaluation.
For gourmet raw materials like Vanilla, obtained by extraction, quality largely depends on the origin and care of processing. We work with a network of selected producers, which allows us to know the traceability of each raw material. Only living materials, capable of telling stories and evoking emotions, enter the Olfattiva catalog.
The properties of essential oils from seeds and pods
Essential oils distilled from seeds and pods are often associated with warmth, digestive well-being, and envelopment. Cardamom is warm and spicy, traditionally linked to digestive well-being; Fennel is known for its digestive and carminative properties, and when diffused, it is suitable for environments such as the kitchen and dining room.
Vanilla and Tonka Bean, obtained by extraction, are gourmet raw materials with a sweet and enveloping character: Vanilla, in particular, soothes the heart, satisfies, and comforts, and is the protagonist of beloved perfumes like Nuvola di Crema.
These are essential oils and absolutes with a warm and reassuring character, ideal for those seeking envelopment and comfort, and for environments where a welcoming atmosphere is desired. The digestive notes of Fennel and Cardamom also make them precious in convivial spaces.
How to use them
Essential oils from seeds and pods are suitable for diffusion in the environment, where they create warm and enveloping atmospheres: use up to 15 drops in water-based diffusers like Levante and Maestrale, 5-7 in cold diffusers like Alarino. In the kitchen and dining room, the digestive properties of Fennel and
Cardamom make them particularly suitable.
In general, we advise against applying pure essential oils directly to the skin: for topical use, they should be diluted in a vegetable oil or a neutral cream.
Gourmand raw materials like Vanilla are often protagonists in botanical perfumery and Body Oil Elixirs, where their sweetness envelops without being overpowering.
They can also be combined with other essential oils to create personal synergies: seeds and pods pair beautifully with citrus fruits for sunny and gourmand compositions, and with woods for warm and deep perfumes.
How to store them
To best preserve the quality of essential oils from seeds and pods, we recommend storing them away from direct light, heat, and temperature fluctuations. They are living and precious raw materials: proper storage helps maintain their aromatic profile and properties intact over time.
Gourmand raw materials, such as Vanilla, have a particularly tenacious sweet note and good stability: correctly stored, they maintain all their enveloping warmth for a long time.
Natural, vegan, and cruelty-free
All Olfattiva essential oils are 100% natural, pure, and whole. They are vegan and cruelty-free, formulated with only plant-based raw materials, without animal derivatives. Olfattiva is AIAB Bio Eco Cosmesi and Vegan OK certified.
We believe in the law of resonance: what goes into a formula carries information with it. This is why our essential oils from seeds and pods carry only the warm and enveloping message of the plant, in full respect of Nature and every living being.
What 100% natural means
In the world of essential oils, some words can be ambiguous. They are often used to indicate fragrances that have little or nothing natural about them: synthetic mixtures, reconstructed in the laboratory, sometimes presented as close to the plant world. Olfattiva chose a different path back in 2006 because our work stems from a faithful listening to the plant.
Our essential oils are pure and complete: they are not reconstituted, not diluted with synthetic substances, and do not contain chemical fixatives. Each oil retains the plant's original complexity, its aromatic part, but also its subtler strength, that living quality that affects a person's well-being and the atmosphere of spaces. For seeds and pods, this means preserving the concentrated energy that the plant encloses in its most precious fruits.
Olfattiva was born from a need for purity and a gamble: a truly natural perfume is possible. We have been saying this since 2006 and continue to believe it, choosing every day to fully preserve the properties of plants.
The Opificio: where matter takes shape
The Olfattiva Opificio is located in Massa Lombarda, in the province of Ravenna, in the heart of Romagna. It is here that every essential oil is welcomed, evaluated, and preserved, and it is here that raw materials become perfumes, synergies, and aromatherapy products, through careful and conscious gestures.
Packaging is done entirely by hand: a choice that concerns not only the doing but also the way the product is accompanied to its final form. While working, we try to maintain beautiful, clean, and luminous thoughts, because we believe that every gesture leaves a trace and every intention accompanies the matter. For gourmet raw materials like Vanilla, the care in processing by extraction makes all the difference.
It is this combination of rigor, competence, and artisanal care that makes every Olfattiva essential oil an authentic and recognizable raw material, the result of over twenty years of experience in the service of Nature. When you offer an essential oil from seeds and pods, you offer much more than a perfume: you offer the living identity of a plant.
Vanilla and gourmand notes in perfumery
Gourmand raw materials from pods, such as Vanilla, are protagonists in Olfattiva botanical perfumery. Vanilla soothes the heart, satisfies, and comforts: it is at the center of beloved perfumes like Nuvola di Crema, where sweetness meets the freshness of Lemon, and enriches many compositions with its warm embrace.
Vanilla is also present in the scented Body Oil Elixirs, where its sweet note accompanies the skin hydration ritual. Its naturally longer persistence makes it a precious base note, capable of anchoring and softening compositions.
Gourmand notes are loved by those seeking envelopment and comfort: they bring the warmth of pastries and the roundness of honey to perfumery, in a completely natural and never cloying form.
Pairings and synergies with seeds and pods
Seeds and pods lend themselves to creating warm and enveloping synergies. Vanilla pairs beautifully with citrus fruits for sunny and gourmand compositions, and with woods for warm and deep perfumes. Cardamom and Fennel enrich spicy compositions and bring their digestive properties.
For those who love to experiment, we suggest using gourmand notes as a base note, dosing them carefully. In the kitchen and dining room, Fennel and Cardamom create welcoming atmospheres and promote digestive well-being, combining scent and function.
Safe use and practical advice
Essential oils are extremely concentrated raw materials: a few drops contain a large amount of plant. For this reason, they should be used with respect and caution. The most important rule is never to apply them pure to the skin: for topical use, they should always be diluted in a vegetable oil, such as Sweet Almond or Jojoba, or in a neutral cream, to make them gentler and safer.
When an essential oil is added to a cream or vegetable oil, a true aromatherapy product is obtained: during massage, the active ingredients work locally, while the odorous molecules reach the limbic system through olfaction, promoting balance and emotional well-being. This is what we call transdermal aromatherapy.
In the presence of animals, essential oils can be diffused with caution and common sense: our pets have a much more developed sense of smell than ours. It is better to choose delicate notes, use them sparingly, allow the animal to move away, and ventilate the rooms well. In case of doubt, it is always advisable to consult a veterinarian.
Essential oil, an ancient and precious ally
Essential oils have accompanied humans for millennia. For some pods, such as Vanilla, extraction in vegetable alcohol is used, the same method used for Cocoa and Tonka Bean: a slow process that preserves the warm sweetness of these gourmand raw materials.
Seeds and spices, such as Cardamom and Fennel, have a long history of use linked to digestive well-being and warmth, and span the culinary and medicinal traditions of many cultures.
Using an essential oil from seeds and pods means always having an ally of warmth and envelopment: a companion for gourmand perfumery, for convivial environments, and for the sweetest and most reassuring compositions.
Why choose Olfattiva essential oils
Choosing an essential oil from Olfattiva seeds and pods means choosing a living, pure, and traceable raw material, the result of a selection that begins long before the laboratory and an artisanal process that preserves its integrity. Not a simple product, but the soul of a plant, brought into everyday life with respect.
The warmth of seeds and pods, preserved through distillation and extraction, is a gift of envelopment and comfort: a precious ally for gourmand perfumery and for convivial environments.
When you use it, you hold in your hands an essential oil that is carefully chosen, recognizable, and authentic: every drop carries the plant's origin, the producer's work, the extraction method, and the seasonality of the harvest. This is what makes Olfattiva essential oils different: not an imitation of a perfume, but the living message of Nature, preserved without compromise and in full respect of every living being.
Sun, wind, water, and subtle energies become a plant.
Essential oil is the Soul of the plant that interacts with Man.
Frequently Asked Questions

Sì, in quanto Olfattiva è Azienda certificata AIAB Bio Eco Cosmesi.
Alarino, invece, richiede poche gocce (5-10).
