Vetiver, the scent of the earth

Vetiver is a fundamental ingredient in the world of perfume: enveloping and woody, it evokes the emotion of the earth.

The essential oil is extracted from the dried roots and rootlets of a herbaceous plant native to Southeast Asia but cultivated in vast areas of the planet. It is a very fragrant perennial plant, whose roots reach a length of up to six meters: these are traditionally used in their countries of origin to make baskets and mats, as well as fans that repel insects by releasing an intense scent.

It balances sebum production even on the scalp: 2 drops can be added to a dollop of shampoo or used as a pre-wash treatment. When diluted in Arnica gel, it proves to be a marvel against muscle pain, arthritis, and sprains.

Ayurvedic Medicine considers this essential oil cooling and anti-inflammatory: it is therefore used for heatstroke, fevers, burning sensations, and excessive sweating.
