Olfattiva was founded in Massa Lombarda, in the province of Ravenna, in the heart of Romagna, in 2006, from the desire to put human work at the service of Nature. Since then, we have pursued a precise commitment: to create botanical perfumery and aromatherapy products made with raw materials of only vegetable origin, without synthetic substances. A truly natural perfume, we said then, is possible: we continue to prove it every day, choosing to fully preserve the properties of plants.
What 100% natural means to us
In the world of perfumery, some words can be ambiguous. They are often used to indicate fragrances that have little or nothing natural about them: synthetic mixtures, recreated in the laboratory, sometimes presented to the consumer as if they were close to the plant world. Olfattiva has chosen a different path, because our work stems from a faithful listening to the plant. We do not seek to imitate its scent, but to preserve its living message.
Our essential oils are pure and complete. They are not reconstituted, not diluted with synthetic substances, and do not contain chemical fixatives. How a truly natural perfume is born
When Olfattiva began its journey, creating a truly natural perfume seemed almost impossible. A perfume without chemical fixatives, without synthetic molecules, and without compromises was considered too volatile, not very suitable for market logic. We chose to do it anyway, and we continue to do so today, with the same conviction as the first day.
Each perfume is born in the Opificio in Massa Lombarda, where essential oils are welcomed into organic grain alcohol with careful and conscious gestures. The average concentration of essential oils is 15%: a value that makes each perfume water, first and foremost, an aromatherapy tool. The formula remains deliberately essential, because every superfluous ingredient would be a subtraction from the purity of the plant and its original message.
The production time is also carefully chosen. We mix and bottle following specific phases of the Lunar Calendar, selected to support the stability and cohesion of essential oils and to strengthen the intent that accompanies each formulation. Packaging is done entirely by hand: while we work, we try to maintain beautiful, clean, and luminous thoughts, because we believe that every gesture leaves a trace and every intention accompanies the matter. We want each bottle to contain both a good formula and good information.
The Opificio is located in the heart of Romagna and is the place where every product takes shape. Here, selected raw materials become perfume, through a process that combines technical expertise, olfactory sensitivity, and deep respect for the plant. How we select raw materials
Selecting a quality essential oil is a delicate process that requires experience, attention, and knowledge of the raw material. Essential oils are precious substances and can be easily adulterated, diluted, or synthetically reproduced. For Olfattiva, selection begins long before the laboratory: it begins with the encounter with the plant and the territory from which it comes.
We work with a network of selected producers, with whom we have built direct and lasting relationships over time. This allows us to know the history of each raw material and its traceability: where the plant comes from, how it was cultivated, by what method the essential oil was extracted, its botanical name, and its chemical profile, from the chemotype to the prevalent active ingredients. These are fundamental details, because they tell the precise identity of the essential oil and its properties.
But the selection doesn't stop there. Each raw material must above all be listened to, experienced, allowed to settle. On light-colored garments, we suggest paying attention to formulations very rich in citrus essential oils: obtained by cold pressing, these oils contain the natural waxes of the rinds and could leave slight shadows. In general, however, Olfattiva perfumes do not stain fabrics. For children under three years of age, it is preferable to spray the perfume on their clothes, pillows, and sheets rather than directly on the skin; up to six years of age, it is advisable to choose perfumes formulated with essential oils suitable for little ones, such as those from the Coccole line.

All Olfattiva products are 100% natural, handcrafted in the Opificio in Massa Lombarda. We exclusively use raw materials of plant origin and choose not to use any animal derivatives: for this reason, our perfumes are vegan and cruelty-free. Olfattiva is certified AIAB Bio Eco Cosmesi and Vegan OK, and cosmetic formulations are tested on volunteers at the University of Ferrara's Cosmetology Center.
It is an ethical choice, but also deeply consistent with our way of feeling. We believe in the law of resonance: what goes into a formula carries with it a story, a vibration, an information.
