Shamballa, Olfattiva's Botanical Garden

Shamballa represents a new, important chapter in our history: the acquisition of 8 hectares of land in the Romagna hills and their transformation into a biodynamic farm.

Olfattiva was founded in 2006 from the desire to bring perfumery back to its origins, using only pure essential oils and plant-based raw materials. Today, this vision expands: we return to the earth, which, together with the sun, wind, and water, gives life to the plants that will become essential oils.

A journey to foster biodiversity

Olfattiva's Botanical Garden is a place dedicated to biodiversity and the connection between people and nature. Here, we cultivate aromatic medicinal plants using biodynamic methods, regenerating uncultivated land and restoring soil fertility.

The first medicinal varieties planted are:

  • Lavender

  • Rosemary

  • Helichrysum

  • Calendula

  • Yarrow

  • Hyssop

From these cultivations, we will obtain some of the raw materials for Olfattiva's cosmetic and aromatherapy lines, completing the virtuous cycle of our artisanal production.

From field distillation to experiential courses

The new farm allows Olfattiva to independently cultivate a large part of its aromatic raw materials and to distill directly in the field, giving life to new lines linked to seasonality and the local territory.

The Medicinal Botanical Garden will be open to the public with courses and educational experiences directly in the field. Participants will be able to:

  • participate in the harvesting of aromatic plants at ideal times,
  • observe and experiment with processing and distillation techniques,
  • create plant extracts and essential oils to take home.

Immersive moments that combine education, nature, and creativity — to experience the very essence of Olfattiva's philosophy: understanding that an essential oil is born from the invisible work of the earth, sun, wind, and water that have transformed into a plant.

A project born from the same vision as Shamballa

The project is born from the collaboration between WASP 3D Build and Olfattiva, two entities united in their commitment to shape spaces and care for the land, cultivating and enhancing it with attention.

WASP 3D Build, in continuity with the ideals of peace and harmony of Shamballa — a legendary place in Tibetan tradition — has created Itaca in this space: a 3D-printed structure, inspired by an eco-sustainable housing model and designed to ensure maximum water, energy, and food autonomy through efficient use of natural resources.

Olfattiva will be the botanical and agricultural heart of the ideal Shamballa, working to regenerate the land and restore life to the soil through ecosystem-friendly cultivation.

The voice of Olfattiva

"We have always known that fragrance comes from the plant and its entire world: from the earth, from the root and the leaf. Becoming a farm is our way of taking care of that origin and restoring integrity to those who choose our products. With experiential courses, we want to transmit this deep connection, so that everyone can experience the miracle of the plant becoming an essential oil."

Shamballa is a chapter written season after season. Follow us to discover the harvesting calendar and the first experiences open to the public.
